Sacrofano, not far from the town of Rome, is set between the Via Cassia and Via Flaminia. It sits on Monte Musino at 260 m. above sea level with typical mediaeval houses. The city was part of the Etruscan city of Veio. The network of streets with its many Etruscan settlements was built over, after the Roman conquest, with Roman Villas. Within the perimeter of the city can be found small Renaissance palaces. The Palazzo Placidi-Serraggi, was built in 1707, is an example of the Baroque period.
Also to be noted is the archeological site at Monte Musino that dominates the Tevere Valley.
There was a net of streets of etruscan origin where there were many small etruscan settlements. After the roman conquer they were substituted by roman villas above all on the hills.
Among the most important local events there are the Sacrofanese Summer and The Palio della Stella.
